Manufacturing Engineer (MEG)

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Provide first level engineering support to contract manufacturer operation teams, troubleshooting process, equipment, and product issues in real time.
- Support new product introductions and transfers for Optics and HDR products, including documentation review, capability assessments, and process/equipment qualifications.
- Ensure adherence to Samtec control plans and standards, coordinating approval and implementation of process changes between Samtec and contract manufacturer.
- Review and analyze process and yield data, identify trends or drifts, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
- Design, develop, and support manual, semi‑automated, and automated tooling and equipment using CAD tools.
- Develop and standardize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and process windows to improve quality, yield, and reliability.
- Lead and support process improvement activities using data analysis, DOE, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Support equipment installation, upgrades, preventive maintenance, and asset management in collaboration with contract manufacturer and Samtec teams.
- Summarize recurring production issues and improvement opportunities, communicating effectively in weekly and quarterly reviews.
- Ensure continuity between sustaining engineering projects and high‑volume production.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel regularly to contract manufacturer sites and as needed for urgent technical support, equipment qualification, or training.
- Expect travel amount/frequency to be around 30% or more.
Required Experience:
- Experience in manufacturing and process engineering within a high‑volume production environment.
- Working knowledge of process development, equipment qualification, and product transfers.
- Experience with tooling and equipment design, preferably using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with experience applying data analysis, DOE, and root cause methodologies.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, suppliers, and contract manufacturing partners.
- Effective communication skills and ability to provide technical guidance on the factory floor.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to support manufacturing operations.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
